The Open Door Policy was signed on September 6, 1899 and was created when China open up its door to the outside world. The Open Door Policy is the issue being stated on this political cartoon with Uncle Sam, China, and other countries. The message trying to be sent is that the new policy is a good thing because it make a "A Fair Feild And No Favor" or make China's trade and other things fair to all countries interested in it. Its also stating that the U.S. is trying to make it all fair with all other countries by holding them back and not let them set up a monopoly, be the only one able to go to, with China's trade. On the other side though, some might think that this policy is bad and we should get rid of it because were now trying to influence another country when they opened up their doors. Some may even think that it's unfair because its not letting the economy do it itself, instead the government is taking controll over it. Some techniques used in this cartoon is labeling because China is labeled to show what it is and the bag is labbeled Comercial Expansionist to show it has economy influence. This does not support my position on impearlism because it shows that were doing a good thing and its fair to all other countries. After this was put in, a rebellion started starting more conflict and it was called the Boxer Rebellion. What do you think was the right choice?
